Kruger National Park

“Dwyka Tented Lodge excellent”

Sanbona is a great private game reserve. It does not have the vast animal numbers of say Masi Mara or Kruger because it is situated in an area of semi-desert, but it does have an enormous variety. In addition with only 3 small lodges it does not have masses of safari vehicles. The guides are brilliant not only do they find animals but they also allow walking safaris when possible. We got to walk within 12 yards of a cheetah. We also saw wonderful rare White Lions plus rhino, giraffe, zebra, hippo, elephants, various antelopes, birds and of course monkeys.
The Tents at Dwyka are very comfortable, beautifully situated and well serviced. The food is very good and the drinks reasonably priced.
There are 3 lodges, Dwyka is the most expensive but it is about 30 minutes closer to the main game viewing areas, so staying at Dwyka gives you about an hour extra game finding time per game drive, it also provides a more authentic experience. Worth the extra

“We loved Dwyka tented camp”

We stayed three nights at Dwyka tented camp. We were a bit exhausted with the early mornings but it was well worth it. Make sure you take enough clothes to layer as it can get very cold during early morning or towards the end of evening game drives. The food at the camp is a la carte or buffet and is superb. They have a good wine selection at reasonable prices although the drinks on the morning and evening game drives are included. The rooms are of good size and provide every amenity for your comfort including a hot tub! Our guide Gerhard was superb and always went the extra mile to give us great game viewing. Game drives last over three hours twice daily and are great fun. Would stronglyy recommend a stay at Dwyka tented camp for 3 nights to get the variety of evening meal options including the boma dinner hosted by your field guide. We drove the 12 km from the gate to the welcome lodge where we parked our hire car and then had the 45 minute pre-booked complimentary transfer to Dwyka tented camp in their 4 wheel vehicle as the gravel roads were a bit bumpy in places. They also have Tilney Manor which is about 10 minutes before you reach the tented camp and is recommended for families and looked really nice and modern.

“Amazing place ”

Everything was just perfect here from start to finish. We stayed in the Dwyka tented lodge which were very comfortable with a hot tub on the deck. All the staff were very attentive and the service was excellent. The food was very good quality and a great choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the range of wines was excellent and at reasonable prices. Our ranger Jannie was so knowledgable and made all the game drives fun and interesting. We got so close to the animals and saw everything we hoped to. Wonderful place, I really hope we go back there one day.

“A True Safari!”

If you really want to experience a true safari than this is the place for you !! My wife and I couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more. Once we arrived we got the 5-star treatment in everything. From the Dwyka Tented Lodge we stayed in, all our meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) and especially all the safaris!! Our ranger (Marco) was very experienced and was able to find all the amazing animals that live in Sanbona.
