    Activities

There is an early morning game drive and a late evening game drive over an area of approximately 10,000 hectares. Youcan expect to see some, if not all, the Big 5, as well as many other species of game and some of the over 300 species of birds. Animals are usually seen from very close quarters, the sighting is professionally handled and controlled. Drives are normally 3 to 4 hours long, with a stop along the way for tea, coffee or sundowners. Idube is particularly well known for the frequent and excellent sightings of leopards – a photographer’s dream come true. After breakfast, a morning guided walk is offered or you can relax round the pool or on your decks.

Idube has linked to local communities who have put together an enjoyable village tour. Included in the tour is the local school and pre-school, choir and dancers, watching local food being prepared and trying it afterwards and ending up with the little cultural museum. Other trips, including balloon safaris and elephant education, can be arranged on request.

    “Wow...what an experience!”

The experience of our safari was so fabulous that I don’t have words to describe. Our guide Kelwan and tracker Mark were the best. Found every possible animal for us to see and were very informative about both the flora and fauna.
The meals were great and the staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful and informative. This was definitely the highlight of our entire trip.

    “Amazing place”

We stayed here at the beginning of September, and found the whole experiance fantastic, from the moment you get out of the car at the main reception you know you are somewhere out of this world, i remember just stood open mouthed looking at the Warthogs, nyala just wandering around.
The staff were brilliant, the rooms very comfortable, loved the four poster bed, it was a joy to have a shower outside, although just be aware the hot water cuts out after a short while, so don’t hang about!!
the game drives are what everybody comes here for, and they didn’t disappoint, we saw something different every time, and the “big five” on every drive, Kal and Mark were the guide and tracker we had, and if they got so much as sniff of an animal they did they utmost to get you closer, you’d be surprised where a 4×4 can get!!!
the Lodge itself is beautiful, the food was really nice, couldn’t fault anything, thank you Idube for making our stay so memorable

    “Great Safari Adventure”

Our first safari adventure was in Idube. Lovely place, wonderful staff and exceptional safari guide. Experience was unbelievable and saw so many animals on our outings. Everyone at the camp extended themselves to the utmost which made this an exceptional stop.

One suggestion for improvement is to include all local refreshments in the daily cost of the stay. The other camps we visited outside of South Africa operated that way and made for an easier checkout process.

“Amazing experience, one of the best”

Visited as a family group for 3 nights and had the most amazing time. Lovely lodge setting with animals wandering through the grounds. There are 3 areas for meals, breakfast served inside after the morning drive, lunch near the hide bridge and dinner in a Boma setting. Lovely central lounge area. The Makubela suites are just fantastic! Large suite with a large outside deck and small pool. As a family group we had both suites which were linked by a central internal door. The children loved their own space and pool. Game drives were so well organised and operated. Matt and Mark worked so well as a team finding us the animals. They were able to track the leopards and find them on all 5 of our drives. Such a magical experience on one morning spending 90mins watching them. On every occasion we got so close it was spell-binding for the children, they LOVED it, as did we. A truly first class experience, up there with the very best of the many places we have visited in 8 trips to the continent.
