    Activities

Guests can enjoy exploring the reserve and the wildlife and fauna on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. There are over ten hiking trails which are scattered all around the reserve. These trails stretch from 2 km to 15 km, and there is a trail for every fitness type. Mountain bikers are also well catered for at the reserve. Guests are welcome to bring their bike and spend their days discovering the reserve with adrenaline pumping through their veins.

Visitors can also view the reserve from the animal’s perspective while exploring the reserve on horseback. This is a fantastic way to get up close and personal with the smaller animals at the reserve as they are less threatened by the presence of the horses.

For larger game viewing, guests can enjoy a game drive into the “Big Five” Welgevonden Game Reserve. Here guests have the opportunity to view larger animals such as lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, giraffe and many more beautiful animal species. Guests are lead on an exciting adventure by an experienced guide who will share his knowledge of the animals, fauna and environment. The game drives truly are an unforgettable learning and discovery experience.

    “What a wonderful stay!”

Kololo ( with bordering big five Welgevonden ) will never cease to amaze you. Surrounded by lush vegetation, hills, plains and valleys, it offers many possibilities. The accommodation is reproachless, the staff friendly and the game drive with Lynette was something to remember – she just would not give up on that lion sighting! Thank you Kololo team – you are just great! We said goodbye to Kololo with moistness in the eyes but we will be back again! With kind regards and wonderful memories of our stay. “Best park in SA”

This is the best place for a safari. You enter the premises, drive to the reception and if you’re lucky, giraffes, nyala and baboons are waiting for you even before you reach it. The staff is very friendly and competent. The rooms have ample space, are perfectly clean and have a unique feel to it. When you wake up in the morning and sit on the balcony, you can see the wildebeest and zebra meters behind your house. The rangers are very friendly, love their job and are as happy as you to see animals. In short a perfect vacation, whether it is passing through for a couple of days or staying for a week.

“A gem of a game reserve catering for all requirements.”

We were looking for a self-catering facility in a game reserve which also provides the flexibility of going on a game drive or not, doing walks and generally be of a high standard. Koloko was the only option we were able to source esp in The Waterberg environment. We were absolutely delighted with the location, the friendly staff and the fact that we could go for walks without any fear and could even take a swim in the river! Daily we were able to experience the game right in front of our chalet or when doing a walk. The option to use the restaurant occasionally , was also an advantage. We enjoyed our stay so much that we even extended it with another couple of days. We will definitely be back.

“My favorite place to stay at in SA”

Kololo is the most magnificent place to stay at in SA!

The staff is welcoming, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile for you. Everything we ate here was simply delicious. The houses were clean and had everything you could wish for with outside showers, a patio, laundry facilities, wifi, free water bottles, a fully equipped kitchen and much more.

The game drives were a lovely experience with knowledgeable ranges who were passionate and excited to teach us about the animals. You can also go for a hike or rent bikes to explore the reserve.

10/10 would recommend this place to everyone!
