Activities

Relax on the poolside deck and wait for the game to come and drink at the waterhole. Often unique elephant encounters are experienced in this way. Or relax at the pool gazing onto the Drakensberg Mountains in the distance with the bushveld right in front of you. After a light lunch, by arrangement, an excursion to local places of interest can be arranged. In the later part of the afternoon, enjoy a sundowner on the banks of the Olifants River, followed by an evening/night drive to see some of the nocturnal animals. This will pave the way for a return to the lodge. Sit under the magnificently clear skies dazzling with a spectacle of stars. Be comforted by a slowly burning campfire and enjoy a delicious truly South African meal.
Muweti and the surrounds are somewhat unique. They offer an opportunity for Africa’s large game to live in harmony with man as the reserve is home to several families, including your hosts, who make this part of the world their home amongst the wilds.

“Exceptional”

Of all the lodges we have stayed at,this one stands out. During the course of our stay we went on 6 “game drives” and were astounded by the variety of wildlife…….up close and personal with mating lions and herds of elephants just for starters! In fact, even before we left for the drives the ellies were at the waterhole next to the perimeter wall. The tented chalets were lovely, super comfy beds and crisp sheets. The food was excellent and nights sitting around the fire chatting with Mike and Reynard the
perfect way to end the day. Thanks guys for a memorable few days.

“Once, again ! And again ?”

Our second stay at Muweti Bush Lodge was as delightful as the first one .We again enjoyed our host couple, Laura and Mike, the nature, more in green this time, the games…not to forget the exquisite food and a very good bed !
As I don’t wish to repeat all the praises one can read in the previous 234 rewiews, including mine October, the 10th 2016, I will just add that it also has been a pleasure to meet Reinhardt, Mike new second. He is very knowledgeable and helpful…. ( I am 74, up and down the Jeep, you see ! )
Well, I guess that it will be an again next year !

“Just perfect!”

Beautiful place, great view from your tent with open shower, it was just perfect. Lovley people, nice game drives with sunsets with a glass of wine. Saw lots of animals, unfortunately no lions. The food was delicious, Laura is a super cook! Really enjoyed our stay

“Truly memorable stay at Muweti”

Muweti was the highlight of an already pretty incredible stay in South Africa. From the minute we arrived, everything was great. The setting, the room, the great pool and deck. All perfect.

But what really stood out at Muweti was the people. Laura, Mike, Reinhardt, Maria and everyone at the lodge were fantastic hosts and great company for the entire duration of our stay and made our time there feel more like visiting friends than a holiday at the other end of the world. The small size of the lodge gives it a real group feel between hosts and guests, whether going out on the game drives or sitting around the fire with a glass of wine after an excellent meal prepared by Maria and Laura.

Mike and Reinhardt are passionate, extremely knowledgeable guides and the drives were always interesting, fun and eye-opening (even at 5:45 am!). You may go to spot the big 5 but you’ll soon find yourself fascinated by absolutely everything around you. I’d fully recommend a full day drive in Kruger National Park as an addition to the normal drives. The scale and beauty are incredible and Reinhardt made it a fantastic experience for everyone with his incredible knowledge and obvious love for the place.

So thanks to everyone there for an amazing stay and hopefully we’ll be able to make it back the next time we’re in South Africa.
