“Best safari camp I have been to”

Arrived by transport from Skukuza to river lodge excellent setting lodges are huge certainly five star. Not a huge camp only four of us in a vehicle which was great from our point of view. Meals were great as was the staff the only thing I could say in its disfavour was the height of the huge double bed being only five foot tall and 71 years old I had to climb on the ottoman and crawl up the bed. When I told manager she gave me a set of small steps which were great but would be a good idea if all the lodges were provided with them. Saw everything including big five couldn’t fault it was super stay.

“Worth more than 5 stars”

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated to an experience we never forget. This is a small lodge and therefore perfect for our first game drive experiences. The main lodge is beautiful decorated with a lovely decking area. Our first lunch saw elephants casually wandering in!
The rooms are large, private & exceptionally comfortable. All the staff were friendly & would do anything to ensure you stay was perfect. Kelly and Chad were the best hosts we could have asked for.
The food was excellent quality.
The game drives were the highlight of our whole trip. We saw and learnt so much. We would love to return.

“Out of this world”

I take my hat off to River Lodge, they really excellent: elegant, luxurious accommodation; gorgeous, generous meals; warm and friendly staff; great game drives with exciting sightings and close-ups of elephants almost too close for comfort! But we felt safe in the capable hands of Roux, our very professional and informative guide.

One can go on a game drive early in the morning and then again latish afternoon so you have quite a bit of leisure time in between. This suited us very well – time to chill, read, take a nap, or cool down in the plunge pool while doing some bird watching. Do try to visit in summer so that you can make the most of the outdoor deck and pool area. And if you’re lucky you may just see the bush as lush and green as we did….a feast!

“Amazing experience!”

Our family of 7 had the entire River Lodge and staff to ourselves for 3 incredible days in August! The whole team, from Liza and Chole, to Surprise, the chefs, Mia the night porter and Roux our ranger, and Nick our tracker, were beyond attentive and we all felt they genuinely tried to make our stay an experience we would never forget. The rooms were luxurious and the food was delicious! Every meal was set up for us in a different place – so magical. Roux and Nick made sure we saw all of the Big 5, including the elusive elephant herd! We didn’t want to leave – or wished we could bring them all home with us. I actually teared up when they ALL came to see us off. I fear no future vacations will ever be this awesome!
