“Battlefields tour”

We spent two nights at Isibindi Zulu Lodge recently and had a lovely time. The lodge only caters for about 12 guests at any one time and so the relationship between groups of guests and with the staff was much friendlier than you might find at larger sites. The staff were all extremely helpful and the individual lodges were lovely.
The tour of the Zulu War battlefields of Isandlwana and Rourke’s Drift was fascinating and enhanced by the knowledge of our guide Evan Jones. In the evening and back at the lodge, we were treated to a traditional Zulu dance performed by local youths followed by a traditional meal served under the stars.
Our thanks to all the staff at the lodge, especially the manager Nokubonga who couldn’t do enough for us; the waitresses/porters (I’m afraid I don’t have their names) who were so helpful; to Linda who assisted on our battlefield tour and to our guide Evan.

“A special experience in the bush”

We were very happy with this stop, which required a lot of travel time to reach. The accommodations and environment, food and welcome are all outstanding. The management organized a day guided tour with Mike Nel from Dundee of the Anglo-Zulu battlefields. It was a marvellous historic visit. We were able to mingle with other guests and the host took us for a safari drive and walk in the area that proved very beautiful.
We felt as if we better understood the Zulu culture and present day South Africa.

“Amazing hospitality”

We were warmly welcomed to Isibindi on our arrival and provided a tour and Bruce helped us arrange a last minute tour of the battlefields. The room was immaculate with a breathtaking view and more than comfortable. The dinners were amongst the best we had in South Africa!
Unfortunately, we had a small accident while there, but the staff went above and beyond to help us get medical help and ensure our every need was catered for.

“The best lodge ever.”

We had the most wonderful two-night stay. The first night after a safari it became very cold and we were made to feel very special with dinner inside and a log fire. Nicole and her husband spent lots of time talking with us and answering all our question. The staff were a delight. We spent the second day with a guide learning about the history of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana. This was an amazing education. In the evening we had local entertainment and it was followed with Zulu food. We hope one day to come back.
