“wonderful - Blessing is a Blessing”

We had a wonderful stay at Kosi Forest Lodge. Blessing, the manager, is a blessing! Such a friendly and helpful man, thank you so much, Blessing, for your help and assistance with everything. Our guide George was great, he had such a good humor and lots of knowledge. The tents – more like huts – with the outdoor bathroom was an experience and the tranquility just wonderful. 2 nights are not enough! Thanks again to all of the staff and we can strongly recommend this peacful place.

“First-rate hospitality and excellent excursions”

The lodge and cabins are beautifully designed and the hospitality excellent. Meals are delicious and well served. Could use improvement in choice and quality of wines. Overall courtesy and helpfulness are first-rate.

The excursions are excellent. Our favorite was the Lakes Boat Trip. Lovely to be in the large outboard and go up and back down the chain of lakes, seeing close-up the extensive fish trapping structures, made of reeds and being mantained by local fishermen. Trip includes a neat snorkel among the mangrove roots with scores, perhaps hundreds of smallish sunfish, like ornaments in the water.

Most challenging was the excursion to snorkel in the channel from the last lake to the ocean. Strong current, but we adjusted with help of our excellent guide and were rewarded with being up close with a dozen large, dazzling Angel Fish, perhaps a foot in height with long white streamers.

“Wonderful hospitality”

After a fraught journey to Kwa Zulu Natal, the welcome at Kosi immediately enveloped us. Lovely accommodation, food and, most especially, staff! A wonderful 2 days exploring the beautiful area of crystal clear lakes by canoe, boat and, to top it all, an evening trip to watch some hatchling turtles make it to the Indian Ocean. Gorgeous picnic served by Rasta on the beach before setting off with our guide – the Milky Way as you’ve never seen it before. Thank you to Candice at Rhino Africa for organising our whole trip so we’ll – fabulous!

“Wonderful family getaway”

Our grown-up family spent a wonderful weekend Kosi forest lodge. We drove there ourselves in a Toyota Prado with a Venter trailer. The signposts are a bit confusing, but we got there. The rooms are great- forest cabins literally built around a tree with a very nice private outside bathroom. The catering is very good. Friendly gentle staff. The activities are excellent- we had very good views of the palm nut vulture on our forest walk. The canoeing excursion is an absolute highlight-beautiful scenery, lifers (for the birders – just missed a finfoot), nature at its best. We had a wonderful time and hope to be back.
