“Family, Fun and Fantastic Memories”
Spent a weekend with the family in the Homestead. The house is relaxing, clean, well designed, luxurious & perfect for a family holiday. The team is very attentive (we were welcomed by the whole crew, including hosts, chefs, ranger and tracker). Everyone went the extra mile for us: from champagne in the bush hanging from the trees, to the chef making delicious crumpets on demand, to the ranger and tracker being extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and fun. The rooms are spacious and we were lucky enough to have a herd of 60 elephants drink water out of the pool (literally at arm’s length away!). Phinda as a reserve has a huge array of vegetation and wildlife making it a beautiful setting, the volumes of wildlife means spotting big 5 and cheetah is highly likely. The game drives were a wonderful experience complete with scenery, wildlife and amarula sunrisers. A big thank you to Paul, Amy, Sarah, Zama, Matt, Bernie and the team for being so warm, friendly, accommodating and making the trip truly memorable.~ Lorenzo ~ Johannesburg
I am unable to fault Phinda. The lodge is amazing, the sightings unbelievable, the food delicious and the staff fantastic.
This was our second visit to the homestead and we arrived with high expectations after an amazing first trip and Phinda certainly lived up to those expectations. On our first drive we experienced a cheetah kill, we saw all of the big five on almost every drive we went on and we were surprised with sundowners hidden in the trees and bush diners with Zulu dancers and traditional African food.
We also went on the turtle experience to see the turtles lay their eggs and bumped into a beautiful loggerhead turtle. A truly unforgettable experience, thank you to all the staff for making it so special.~ KatieGilbard ~ London, United Kingdom
Went to Phinda as an extended family. Six people ranging in age from 22 thru 80 were there. From the moment we were picked up by the pilots in Durban to the moment we took off from the Phinda airstrip 4 days later nothing (and I mean nothing) could have been better. The people were phenomenal. The 4 bedroom Homestead was perfect for indoor and outdoor sitting and eating areas. It also had a small gym. The food was great. Our guide, Mark, and our tracker, Abel, where also terrific. The hostess and cook were also first rates. The actual preserve offered everything imaginable from wake-up elephants to night spotting of leopards and even an ardvaarck. Never felt unsafe as a lion stalked a buffalo or cheetah’s staked there territory. Time of year, early June, was great because of a cooler (ok occasionally cold at 6AM) temps and high visability make for the perfect time of year. The Homestead has it’s own watering hole which was constantly being used by everything from Zebra’s to Baboon’s to 31 elephants. There was nothing better.~ DifficultNY ~ New York
“Magic, magic, magic!”
Beyond magic, this is the only to describe this magnificent place! I was so blessed to be invited by dear friends to visit Phinda Homestead, as part of my 50th birthday celebrations. And I was spoilt rotten! Absolute superb game viewing, even from one’s bedroom. The game drives were very eventful and awesome. Had a wonderful game ranger, Dave, as well as super tracker, Toks, who managed to notice a chameleon on a night drive, sitting in a tree!! Greatly recommended.~ Annelie G ~ Heidelberg South Africa
