“First class resort and safari experience.”

From the moment of arrival to departure we were treated with excellent service. The staff were very friendly and always pleasant. The facilities are beautiful and well appointed. Food was very high quality with good selections. The traditional braai was a terrific experience. The safari rangers (guides) and trackers were outgoing, knowledgeable and very effective in tracking and finding animals. They were accommodating and would track animals based on guest viewing priorities. We had a fantastic experience viewing all of the “big five” and many other animals and birds.

    “Amazing experience”

We were given a great welcome on arrival and shown to our very large room which was amazing. There were picture windows to the bush in all rooms(including the toilet!)and an inside and an outside shower so there was no need to miss anything. The balcony also overlooked the bush so we were able to watch elephant, giraffe etc from our own room. It was incredibly atmospheric at night to sit on the balcony listening to hyenas while giraffes crashed around in the bushes beneath. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable helpful and friendly and the meals were of a high standard. We also had some great game drives getting good views of all the big 5 and even better, close views of wild dogs with cubs playing within a few feet of us. The number taken in a vehicle was limited to 6 meaning everyone was able to get good views. Overall a very special place and I would award more than 4 stars if I could.

“As close to perfection as expected”

As I am reading other reviews, I would say that they took the hints because it is hard to find faults now. Kambaku River Sand was the fourth safari lodge in South Africa I stay at and it was just as perfect as I expected in every way. For those who are concerned about the radio communication between the rangers, well, if you want to have a quiet drive and get lucky finding a potentially narrower variety of wildlife, then I suppose you can request a private vehicle without the use of the radio. However, if you want to see as many different animals as possible, getting the information from other rangers really helps.
