Celebrating Africa and its unique cultural diversity, Makumu Private Game Lodge is situated in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. The Big Five Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is one of the largest privately owned nature reserves in South Africa, covering some 60 000 hectares and forming part of the greater Kruger National Park. The Klaserie River runs through the reserve giving vitality to wonderful birdlife and spectacular fauna and flora.
Makumu Private Game Lodge is made up of six luxurious and beautifully appointed suites. The suites can accommodate a maximum of twelve guests, ensuring an exclusive blend of absolute comfort, style and privacy. Inspired by the Bushman, Ndebele and Zulu tribes of Africa, the suites are decorated with their own unique character. The King Suites and Impi Suites is large and spacious, to reflect the open air and space of the African bush. The en-suite bathrooms have an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as the King Suite having a perfectly positioned ‘tub with a view’. The wooden decks of the King Suites each boast a hammock perfect for those lazy afternoons and relaxing atmosphere.
Striving to indulge you completely in the Makumu experience, private use of the entire lodge is an option for families or special occasion celebrations. Guests of all ages are welcome.
Few things can compare to dining under the spectacular canopy of the sparkling African night sky. Superb cuisine, fine wines and an open fire will make your luxury safari experience unforgettable.

To make the game viewing pleasures even more effortless the lodge’s wooden decked boma is situated above the banks of the Dundee river bed where you can dine and continue your wildlife adventure next to an open fire and flicker of lanterns.
Built as a feature to blend in with the surrounding bushveld, the pool is an enjoyable feature for all guests, even visiting herds of elephants who sometimes swing by to quench their thirst at the lodge.
