Activities

South Africa’s famous Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve is one of the oldest national parks in the country and is well-known for its conservation efforts which is most notably in the preservation of the Black and White Rhinoceros, both of which are critically endangered.

Apart from these two species, the game reserve is home to the other members of the ‘Big 5’, namely lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo.A healthy population of endangered predators such as the African Wild Dog and Cheetah can also be found here.

The varied habitat which is found here supports a good diversity of common game species which include giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and different antelope. This region of South Africa is renowned for its excellent bird-watching opportunities, with over 400 of the country’s 950 species of birds being represented here.

The greater area around this game park has an abundance of private and public game reserves and national parks. Guests may visit the Isimangiliso Wetlands Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as Sodwana Bay, which is home to the southernmost coral reefs, as well as the Mkuze, Tembe and Ndumo National Parks.

“Great lodge”

We stayed here for 2 nights in a Luxury Bush Villa. The accommodation was fantastic with beautiful views of the park. Food was good as was the spa with reasonably priced treatments. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. We did 4 game drives which were great – a scary moment with the biggest elephant I have ever seen included! Our female ranger was really friendly and informative. Saw plenty of game – some that we hadn’t seen before like two packs of Wild Dogs – and birds. This is the 4th safari lodge we have stayed at around South Africa. I would recommend it. We really enjoyed it.

“Wonderful lodge with amazing safari experience”

My husband and I spent two nights at Rhino Ridge Lodge and absolutely loved it! The lodge is stunning. It’s very spacious and clean. We stayed in one of the villas with a pool and it was so nice to take a little dip on a warm day with the amazing view over Hluhluwe. The staff was adorable, the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the safari experience, going on 4 drives in total. We were even lucky to be just the two of us for 2 drives, and our guide David made sure we had the most pleasant time. He was very knowledgeable. We saw a great diversity of animals! Highly recommend this place if you want a nice safari experience.

“Incredible! ”

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was by far the most wonderful three nights of the whole trip. It is the most beautiful place you could ever imagine staying. We stayed in a honeymoon villa with it’s own private plunge pool and the sunrises we saw from the veranda were incredible! Bed was very comfortable and the free standing bath was lovely. We even got a meal in our room with champagne as part of the honeymoon package. The staff are wonderful. Friendly, attentive and full of smiles. My husband suffered from a little heat exhaustion when we were there and the staff went out their way to make sure he was ok! Our guide was called Simo and he was amazing, so knowledgeable, friendly and interesting. He made the trip even better!! We also loved all the links with the local communities which is brilliant!! Thank you for the most wonderful stay and we hope we can return in the future!

“Super lodge and Safari ”

We stayed there for two nights and had a wonderful time. The accommodation, Our “room” was a whole house called Villa which was super nice and gave you a stunning view over the national park. Moreover, we enjoyed the food very much – everything we tasted we enjoyed.
Also, the Safari tours were great. Our guide Xolani is very familiar with the animal livestock in the park and answered all the questions we had. He seemed very passionated about his job which he is doing great as we did not only spotted animals but also learned about their living behaviors.
Furthermore, we took a spa treatment and from my point of view this was probably the best massage I’ve ever experienced. Felt like a newborn afterwards and wished it will never ends.
We can definitely recommend this lodge as we enjoyed our stay very much.
