“A little piece of heaven”

We had the most wonderful and relaxing time at Thonga Beach Lodge. The Lodge is so isolated and fits perfect into the wonderful environment. The chalets are very spacious and tastefully decorated. Everything was very clean. The food was great, like in all the Isibindi Lodges. We have been very spoiled. We had a very relaxed sundowner drive to Lake Sibaya, great sunset and a peaceful setting. The big adventure at least for us was the Ocean Experience! We saw dolphins and even the spinning dolphins. Our skipper Frik and Miguel the snorkelling and diving teacher did a great job. It was fun to get into the boat again!!! I felt like a walrus, whereas my sister jumped in like a salmon. The Pacific Ocean was very nice to swim in, clear and warm. The beach is out of this world. Sure a destination to come back.

“Fantastic beach resort in pristine area”

We had a lovely stay here with the entire family. The kids loved all the activities and I got to do some scuba diving which was great.
My chalet needed some work though as there was no telephone and I got sick one morning and couldn’t phone anyone for help. I was alone with my 4-year-old daughter in the room so I had to wait for my mother to come and help out. (like I was really super nauseous and couldn’t move). I reported it so hopefully, it is improved by now. My parents enjoyed the church service and we all enjoyed the sunset drive to the lake. The food is nice and we especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet where we could make our own juices.

“Fantastic Stay”

We spent the most amazing few days at Thonga Beach Lodge. The staff were friendly and helpful and the accommodation suited our needs and the environment perfectly. The lodge is cleverly-hidden by the trees and right on the beautiful, unspoiled and uncrowded beach with a wooden deck if you don’t want to sit on the sand. We saw the turtles laying their eggs at night and hope to be back again soon to see the eggs hatch. We enjoyed activities like snorkelling and kayaking and treated ourselves to massages at the spa. I loved the sign “No shoes no news” There is limited wifi in the lounge and no cell phone signal. I would recommend Thonga to anyone wishing to have a quiet holiday away from the crowds.

“Magical visit to a pristine, unspoiled beach paradise”

e had the most incredible 4 days at Thonga Beach Lodge. The location is incredibly beautiful, remote, and unspoiled. The rugged beach and dunes and the charming community of Mabibi made for a very memorable visit. We loved all of the activities – we did kayaking, snorkelling with the dolphins, diving, whale watching, sunset cocktails (sundowners) on the Lake, dune hikes, night walks to check out spiders, massages, and a visit to the Mabibi school and community. We also enjoyed lounging on our deck and watching the whales breach and spout off the shore. It was really a magical visit – so nice to be remote and disconnected (wifi was spotty at best and never really worked for us, but we appreciated that break). The food was delicious, the staff and guides were friendly, informative and kind, and the whole experience was just awesome. So nice to get off the beaten path and truly experience a rural, coastal South African community and nature.
