    Activities

The Welgevonden Private Game Reserve is a 34 200 ha, privately owned game reserve in the heart of the Waterberg in the Limpopo province of South Africa. It first started as a conservation area in 1993 through a private sector initiative that resulted in the consolidation of numerous individual farms.

Before the development of this malaria free game reserve, cattle farming was the dominant land use practice, and although agriculture was limited in this region, the old fields that were cultivated are visible and constitute a distinct component of the landscape.

On the thrilling game drives, guests staying here experience the excitement of the “Big Five” in their natural habitat. The lodge’s qualified game rangers take guests in the open game viewing vehicles to entertain them with their knowledge and experience of the bush. Two game drives are offered daily, one early morning and afternoon/evening game drive.

“A real and genuine lodge experience”

The most wonderful warm hospitality and amazing staff who make this place what it is. April the game ranger is outstanding in terms of his bush knowledge and looking after guests. Sinah who is the assistant manager and chef does an amazing job. We ate well, slept well and left feeling completely relaxed and honored to have spent time at this very special place.

    “What a great find....”

We were flown into the bush (1hr from
J’Burg) and were picked up by a very friendly guide called April. 1 hr drive later we arrived in Tshwene Lodge. We were given a warm welcome and found all the staff to be great. The accommodation was comfortable and stylishly decorated. The game drives we expertly organised and as a family we could not recommend the place more. We hope to visit again – 10/10.

    “Wildlife Extravaganza”

Our Tshwene Lodge stay could not have been more enjoyable. White rhinos, lions, elephants, jackel, impala, zebra, hippos, myriad bird species and a crocodile, among other wildlife, filled our days with awe. Our spacious, tidy room with its incredible view and hidden outside shower was welcome after a morning or evening safari in the bush. Our guides, April and Jacques, each had a passion for the wildlife we viewed and their knowledge of each animal and its respective habitat was impressive. Thank you Tshwene Lodge for an unforgettable bush experience.
