    “Super Sanbona!”

The experience is first class. A warm welcome from your first encounter at the welcome Lodge to your transfer back. The staff aim to please and are warm and convivial. The Safari ranger was Roman who was helpful and knowledgeable and seemed to have the knack of putting us in the right place at the right moment in time. We were lucky enough to have the white lion pride wander passed our vehicle and to see the elephants walk towards us and then follow them to the waterhole.

    “Sleeping under the stars!”

We “experienced” the Explorer Camp for 3 days with 2 nights sleeping in real tents in the wilds.
It was a really great experience. No animals came into our tents at night except a lovely mouse in the portaloo tent -we need not have worried !
The great thing about this safari was the company -tent 1 us married 30 years -tent 2 younger couple married one week -tent 3 the two great guides & outside the tents miles of open country with lots of animals to track & find. We had a jeep so could drive along then jump out if we saw any traces of animal movement. Great fun trying to beat Geraint our tracker to spot creatures !
Probably not for people who value luxury over experience but food was good cooked over open fire,we had camp beds which were OK & Kasper catered for our needs incl cooked breakfast & BBQ’s & lovelly SA stew. A cold few beers always available.
Did not try the shower -why would you on a safari !
Highlight — the Cheetah yards from us calling again & again for his big brother in the fading light. Then seeing them next day curled up together under the tree after a good dinner.

“A dream come true with a bucket list wake up call!”

We stayed two nights in the Explorer Camp at Sanbona.
This was the best decision we have ever made!
The reserve itself did not disappoint with Kudu-antilopes and Baboons greeting us a few hundred meters beyond the main gate. Upon arrival to the welcome lounge our luggage were taken care of and cold drinks were served with a breathtaking view over a the rolling hills.
We were then transfered to Dwyka Lodge for lunch where we met our Guide, Danie and Camp Coordinator, Desmond. Upon finishing lunch we climbed into the Safari vehicle for a short drive to our tented Explorer Camp. There are no words for how amazing this camp is. Not even the pictures do it justice!
The mornings and evenings were filled with game drives, both by car and walking! The experience of walking through the terrain is incredible. We got so 4 out of the Big 5. The Leopard eluded us, but we got to see two cheetahs as a consulation prize!
Our wake up call one morning was from the Lions circling the camp for some “sightseeing”. How many times in your life has that happened?!
When sunday came we did not want to go home. Our guide Danie was right, it is one h*ll of an office he has!

    “A trip of a lifetime”

Seriously good bush experience with excellent trackers. We chose the Explorer option. Glancing at its best. Close encounters on foot with cheetah, lion and elephant. Well worth the cost. Highly recommended. Finished up having a massage in the spa to freshen up for our next destination.
